My name is Ching, and I am a musician and private music instructor in the New York City area. I had my schooling at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, double majoring in Music and English, while minoring in Music Production. As a freelance musician, I’ve played at many events with my string quartet, recorded in studios as a session cellist, and played in large ensembles ranging in genres from classical and contemporary to Balinese Gamelan. I've also collaborated with up-&-coming artists on projects where I composed original music for film and video.
With over 8 years experience in music education, I have been fulfilling my passion in helping students of all ages develop their technique and expand their knowledge in music. When it comes to teaching, I believe that flexibility is key. Adapting to the student’s natural learning pace, nurturing their curiosity, and keeping things fun has always been my style. While I specialize in classical music, I also cover other genres such as pop, rock, broadway, songwriting, folk, and fiddle, just to name a few.
Along with learning the techniques to play your instrument, we will go over music theory as well. Incorporation of music composition can be an option for those who feel comfortable with the musical language and wish to write original pieces.
When I am not busy teaching, I am actively drawing cartoons, producing electronic and hip-hop music, or just enjoying the night with friends.
